These A4 differentiated word vocabulary mats are an essential tool for any child and would be perfect laminated and stored in boxes in the middle of the table. The mat focuses on writing a character description.
The mat gives a wide range of vocabulary including words to describe how a characters look, what they wear and their personality. There are also words and phrases to describe where the character may live and their age and gender. Furthermore there are lists of prepositions, adverbs, adjectives and conjunctions which could be included in a description. Finally there is also a model example of a character description that the children can use to uplevel or improve their own piece of writing. The attached images show each mat but each pack includes:
Mat 1 for the less able pupils (one A4 sheet)
Mat 2 for the middle ability pupils (one A4 sheet)
Mat 3 for higher ability pupils (one A4 sheet)
Mats 4 - example of character description (could be laminated back to back with one of the above mats)

This 58 slide PowerPoint is the perfect revision tool for the KS2 literacy curriculum
In total 17 different types of puncutation are covered with each term covered over at least two slides.
Slide 1 - a multiple choice quiz where the term is given and the children have to then choose from four possible definitions.
Slide 2/3/4 - the correct definition is given. This is then followed by an activity for the children to complete which will consolidate their understanding of the type of punctuation. Depending on the type of punctuation, some have the definition and activity on the same slide whilst others covering 3 separate slides.

This pack includes guided reading plans for the following text:
Viking Boy by Tony Bradman
In total there are 21 guided reading lesson plans, covering each of the sections in the book. Each plan contains a 'reading and responding to the text' activity which is designed to be completed with the class teacher with the reading group. There are then follow up independent activities which the children can then complete during the remainder of the week. All of these activities are closely linked to the new National Curriculum objectives and these are listed at the beginning of each plan.
Each plan also has a list of difficult words which the children can check the meaning of before the teacher led session, space to list the names of the children who are working on the text and a space for a teacher notes and evaluation.
The plans have been written by an experienced primary school teacher and have been tried and tested in the classroom.

Our SATs revision activity pack is perfect for that 'little but often' practise in the run up to the SATs tests in May. Aimed at being used outside of literacy and maths lessons these activities are written in the same style of SATs questions are aimed at helping children who are working towards reaching the required standard.
